This group of ladies live in Zuun Kharaa, 175 km up the train line from Ulaanbaatar. A JCS project called Hope for the Future gave training to the ladies and encouraged them to develop their business. Mary & Martha saw an enthusiastic group needing to develop both their products and markets. They are now our primary supplier of fine felt slippers, made from the best Mongolian Marino fleece. We meet regularly to talk about product changes and quality ... but we also meet to understand more about the tough lives people lead. Many in the cooperative have good qualifications but cannot use them effectively in the country or are paid very low wages. They so much appreciate the opportunity to see their hand crafted gifts being bought by people from all continents. Now we are able to give regular orders to this group leading to a steady income for more than nine ladies.
