What are our fair trade principles?

Fair Price:
Trading in ways that support sustainable answers to poverty – recognising that full time work at the current minimum wage does not keep a family in mind, body and spirit and out of hunger and poverty. A least one and one half times the minimum is needed as a living wage. Giving deposits to cover basic material costs for orders and always paying in full at time of delivery / quality check.
Fair Share:
Agreeing to appropriate profit share through dialogue and participation – based on fair wage rates, material costs, economics and inflationary pressures. Passing back profits in the form of increases in prices paid for products after the basic company needs are met. Ensuring our staff receive living wages based on salary and a proportion of the sales income asprofit sharing. Asking our customers to offer up to 50% deposits on orders up front to support our major advances to our artisans at the time of order – sharing in the risk together.
Fair Time:
Choosing to make a difference in the lives of 100's rather than 1000's of people so that time can be given to help them develop their lives. Helping people to lead balanced lives and to live within their means. Being ready to offer extra support in times of crisis.
Fair Chance:
Developing artisans’ skill sets (financial, technical and people management) and increasing their access to new markets, local and global – developing quality products that give a fair price to customers.
Fair Work:
Working with our artisans to recognise and avoid the wrongs of child labour, gender inequality and excessive work hours for all and to create safe and friendly working environments.
Fair Growth:
Investing in our community to support the work of social services through the low level profits made by our company, whilst using some profits to grow the company – no dividends or profits are taken by the owners.
Fair Deal:
Ensuring transparency and accountability at each level of trade, working through the economics of production with our artisans to ensure they understand their costs and necessary margins and for our customers to understand our pricing methods.
Fair Care:
Working with our artisans to applying environmentally responsible methods of production and to use sustainable / recycled materials when ever possible.
Fair Mind:
Encouraging shoppers to buy Fair Trade products – equally for the quality of product and the motivation of the company for its artisans.
Fair Future:
A good “bridge” company that will be managed by citizens of Mongolia. A company that is sustainable for its artisans and employees, tax paying, profitable and active in its community - a company its stakeholders are happy to stand along side.
