Humanitarian Relief
Funds raised for Lost Sheep Ministries is used to meet immediate extreme need, usually through the supply of regular meals to a small number of people. Sometimes this is also possible through the supply of extra prepared food from hotels with a social conscience.
We work with social services to allow these people to do useful work for the community, thereby leaving them with their dignity when they receive food.
We also try to supply clothing to the most needy.
In the longer term we hope to train people to make handicrafts so we can give them work through Mary and Martha Mongolia and enable them to have dignity, a place to live and a future. Which brings us on to our Micro Enterprise Project.
Donations in 2010 and early 2011
The Owners have been able to make donations to two local organisations; one involved in Orphanage work and the other in rehabilitation of Alcoholics. Further donations are planned for a Micro Enterprise Ngo / Credit Union and a second Micro Enterprise Training and Loan NGO. It has also been possible to give clothing (donated through IWAM) and food supplies to those in desperate need in our local area. Total value of donations will be approximately USD 4,000 and this year funds came from individuals, churches and the owners donated most of their salaries. Profits were kept in the company to help support advances and cash flow to Artisans.
Micro Enterprise in Partnership with MINA NGO and Credit Union!
MINA is a Christian led organisation who run micro enterprise training and Micro Credit in several locations in Ulaanbaatar. They also have a number of significant countryside locations.
Micro Enterprise in our local sub districts – the 4th Khoroo, Narantuul and Chingeltai areas!
The 4th Khoroo has about 1200 families and 11,000 - 11,500 people – so extended families living in quite small living areas; half living in old Russian style apartments; others in the ger area and of course some living on the streets and others below ground.
The local social services identified the need for a micro enterprise initiative. Several other sub districts have received help in this area from the government but finances have now dried up.
We have chosen to work with MINA to launch a small micro enterprise initiative in this area and the Narantuul area. Further funds are being used in the Chingeltai area, another needy area in the district where we have our shop. The work is done with the blessing of the local authorities who know the area and people so well. O2H a donor from the UK have given generous funding making the different projects possible. Lost Sheep Ministries is funded by our churches and individual supporters and contributes greatly to the work. If you would like to support this ministry please contact us
